Ruby is an Appaloosa
mare with special needs. She has a very thin coat and can't stay
in the sun -- she burns very easily. She stays in a stall during
sunny parts of the days but gets to go out when it is overcast and at
night. She is on herbs to help her skin. Even though she
stays stalled on sunny days, she gets SPF 50 applied to her face
every morning and Aloe and Vitamin E every evening.
She is a very sweet horse that is always looking for a hug, treat,
massage, rub, etc. She loves to get the other horses stirred up
which is good -- they need the exercise! Ruby gives the most
appreciative looks for just about everything done for her. She is
always willing to do what is asked.
Ruby came to us from HPAF and has a sad history. She was forced to
live in a paddock with stallions and was pregnant when she was
confiscated by the county. She lost her baby, and we promised her
she'll never have to worry about being with stallions again.

| Ruby loves it
when visitors come -- especially the children. She loves to take
them for short rides. She lets them give her all of the attention
they want. She is very careful and alert when little ones are
around. When she sees visitors coming, she loves to welcome them
with her whinnies! |
