May 17th, 2007" BIG News!
Beauty's Haven
has been donated a MUCH NEEDED truck! An anonymous
donor and the sellers surprised us this week
with a truck that can pull our horse trailer and serve as the much
needed farm vehicle we never thought we'd be able to have.
This
was a total surprise and saying "Thank You" just doesn't seem adequate!
This generous donation is truly a blessing! |

May 5th, 2007:
Author and saddle
fitting specialist Galadriel Billington held a saddle fitting
clinic to benefit the horses at the rescue!
It was a great
day - the clinic was very informative and just awesome! Galadriel did a
great job. I never realized how important it is that the saddle fit
your horse. I mean, I knew it is important but Galadriel pointed out so
many things about the effects of a poorly fitted saddle.
The horses put up with so much from us - fitting them with a proper
saddle is something nice we should do for them - they deserve it!
If you'd like to learn more about Galadriel, or order a copy of her book
"Saddle Fitting Essentials" visit her website at

April 16th, 2007: We received some really great news! We received our
IRS determination letter today and it's official!
We are an
approved 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue organization - effective April
2006!
|
May 2007: We'd like to thank the
Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation for donating much needed
wormers and
New England Equine Rescue for donating much needed flyspray,
hoof supplements and oil, and wormers - thanks Beth and Debbie!

04/12/07: Our first rescue
foal is born! This past November, with the help of caring people,
we were able to save a mare named Hanna that was about to be run back
through auction again in Colorado.
Hanna found a loving home and
was adopted in Idaho. After she arrived at her new home, and was
vet checked, we learned she was pregnant! Hanna, and her baby,
Snicker's, are doing very good.
Thank you Aimee for giving Hanna a
good home where she and her baby are safe, loved, and cared for.
And thank you again to everyone that helped to make this possible.

04/01/07: One of our volunteers, Jim, and his wife Judy, are
returning to their home in Michigan today for the summer. It was
wonderful having Jim to help over the last several weeks. Jim has
been working on a book that we are sure will be a best seller. I
can't say anymore than that - other than it's awesome!
The horses really like Jim and Granny Jewels just loves Judy. Judy
would spend hours grooming Granny and she never seemed to get enough!

|

We hope that when Jim and Judy return in the
fall they bring Jim's horse, Amos with them.
I'm sure he'd like a warmer
place to spend the cold months too!

01/20/07: Galadriel Billington, her husband Mike, and some of her
students spent several hours with us today doing some "hands on" work!
Galadriel teaches horsemanship classes, offers saddle fitting, riding
instruction, equine sports massage, and horse training. Galadriel
has published a wonderful book, "Saddle Fitting Essentials" that
is available at many bookstores and as an EBook from her website at
http://lorienstable.com.
It was nice to see Galadriel's students interact with the horses.
Gentleman, Bouie, Frodo, and Rhythm all got special attention and loved
it. They were all well behaved and just soaked up the extra
attention.
We hope Galadriel will come back again with more students or just to
visit. She is a very knowledgeable and talented lady that you can
always learn something from.
Jim, one of our volunteers, was here for most of the day and was very
helpful keeping everything in place and just doing what needed to be
done. Thanks Jim!
We had 2 other visitors that helped out today, Anne and her daughter
Sarah. Before the students arrived Ruby got lots of TLC from them
and just loved the attention. After the students left, Sparky got
lots of TLC too. Anne and Sarah gave Sparky a beautiful blue
halter and matching lead rope that looks great on him.
Sarah spent most of the day grooming Granny and putting pretty little
yellow flowers in her long mane. Thanks Anne and Sarah for the
gifts and for helping out today!

09/13/06: Materials for a new quarantine paddock were delivered - the paddock should be
done by Friday!
09/14/06: The
company installing the fence accidentally pounded a post into the barn's
septic tank which was a bit of a set back.
Chloe injured her neck and Bud came in lame as a duck! Chloe
is ok but I was worried because her mane was matted into
quite a bit of blood and I couldn't get a good look at the wound.
I was alone and had to call the vet. He doctored it and she'll be
fine. Grandma is upset that I let Chloe into the big paddock
today without her. "Ok, Grandma, I learned a lesson - Chloe is
still to little run with the big ones without you to keep her out of
trouble." Bud ended up having a hot nail and will be fine - he'll
be getting his foot soaked this evening.
09/16/06: The new paddock is finished - well, the fencing is up.
Now we just need a 12' x 12' shelter!
Our next big project will be a to
build a run-in to go into this paddock but this will take awhile as it
is currently unfunded.
If anyone would like to help with this project please contact us by email or if
you wish to make a monetary donation via PayPal please go to the home
page and click on the "Donation" button - make sure you indicate what
the donation is for. No amount is too small and any amount is
appreciated.
