Beauty's Haven Farm & Equine Rescue

Where Life Begins, Again!

Horses on this page are what we call "Lifers."  They will be here with us for the rest of their life.

Beauty, a young Arabian mare, was our first rescue case.  She had been confiscated by the Sheriff's Dept for neglect and abuse.  When she came to us she had rain rot, cuts, bumps, and bruises, bad feet, infected ears, was terribly underweight, and hated humans - especially men.  She was terribly head shy.  She's come a long, long way!

It took a lot of time and patience but she learned not all humans are bad and slowly learned to trust us.  Beauty has impeccable ground manners and is very smart - a real thinker.  She was trained for trails and eventually barrel racing.

After suffering a stifle injury she had some time off.  She now only rides around the neighborhood or on trails.  She is pretty much a one person horse, as many Arabians are.  The family calls her "momma's spoiled brat" but she is forever part of our family.

Beauty pretty much runs the farm.  She is how our farm got its name!  She's a real beauty and this farm is here to be a safe haven for horses in need.

Chloe is a nurse mare foal from Kentucky that came to us from Freedom Hill Rescue, Inc.  She is 1/2 Tennessee Walker and 1/2 American Saddlebred.  Chloe helped bring Cookie out of a sad state after losing her own foal.

Chloe was 3 weeks old when she arrived but settled in perfectly.  She's very people oriented and very smart.  She loves to run and play - and she is great at jumping over the hay piles and anything else in her path!  Chloe plays with Timmy, the goat.

Chloe and Grandma started building a relationship the 3rd week Chloe was here.  She is good for Grandma - she has given Grandma a wonderful purpose in life - to raise her as her own.

Chloe will have fun for a couple of years before her real training will begin.  She is already a great student and knows how to lead, move off of pressure, back, tie, walk, and whoa!  She is our personal horse and we are just blessed to have her.  She too loves the attention from visitors and all the kids just love her.

10/29/06:  Chloe has been very depressed since Grandma crossed
Rainbow Bridge.  She has now been left as an orphan twice in only 6 months.  Her sadness lowered her immune system and she is very ill.   We are staying with her around the clock.  She is on antibiotics but having problems fighting an upper respiratory infection.  We are treating it aggressively.  We don't want it to turn into pneumonia.

11/20/06:  After almost 3 weeks of being very ill, we are happy to report Chloe is well.  We let her into Sharona's paddock today, a new arrival.  Chloe was happy to make a new friend that didn't push her away.  She ran around the paddock and when she got to the top of the hill, just on the other side where Grandma's is buried, she came to a screeching halt.  She looked over at Grandma's gravesite for about 30 seconds like she was thinking.  Then she reared up and took off!  It was so nice to see her acting like a filly again.  She couldn't stay in Sharona's paddock though.  Sharona cribs and we're afraid Chloe would start cribbing too.  But at least Chloe made a friend.
