WELCOME "PRINCESS ADIVA"!
Means "Gentle Princess"

Adiva came to us only days after Nick crossed Rainbow Bridge.  I wasn't sure if I was ready, or able, to continue with the rescue.  Losing Nick was very hard - mentally and physically.

But then we learned that young Adiva needed help - we couldn't turn her away.  We'd like to think that Nick had a hand in helping her to find her way here.

She'll be wrapped with love and kindness just like Nick was.  Nicky - this one's for you!

It seemed you flew away,

yet the breeze held your memory

And like the butterfly

you awakened again

In a new form of innocence and grace.

07/27/07:  We picked Adiva up today.  She loaded right up, no problem there!  She unloaded fine and settled right in.

She was so very pretty running around holding her tail up high!  Her feet need a lot of work.  She needs to put on some weight and tone up but she's in good overall health.

Adiva settling in to her new surroundings.

07/28/07:  We had the vet out today to look at Adiva's right rear leg.  It was pretty swollen and there was an injury that we were concerned about getting infected.  Before the vet arrived we hosed it down good and walked her around.  By the time the vet arrived the swelling had gone down quite a bit.

The vet examined her and she is in good health.  The injury appears to be from a wire that got caught around her foot.  She is on antibiotics for a few days.

08/09/07:  Adiva received a surprise box of gifts in the mail today and she had a blast trying to go through and figure out what was in there!  Adiva says "Thank you Mariah, Pride, Santana, and Myschief!  The gifts are totally awesome!"
