What's worse than dying a slow and painful death from
starvation? Being a mom and watching your baby die
from starvation, too, knowing you're supposed to be able to
provide milk to keep that baby alive.

Dingolay (aka Layla) and her baby (Tonka), plus a 3-year-old filly
(Sienna Rachel), arrived at our rescue on
May 15, 2009. The baby and his mom were in critical
condition -- the baby was holding on by a thread. Sadly, Tonka
died three days later at the hospital.

Zaynah is a 26-year-old, very emaciated Arabian mare that was being
ridden hard by a 300+-lb. man a few months ago when something
snapped in her legs and she went down, where she lay in pain.

With two fractures in her left knee and blown tendons and ligaments
in her right leg, a strap was put around her front legs in order to
drag her to another location to be shot.
Thankfully, Zaynah is now at our rescue and on her way to recovery.

... and thank you for your interest! We
are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of
Florida. Please take time to browse through our website and
get to know us and the horses here.
Our purpose is to help as many equine friends as
possible when they are in need. We network with other rescue
organizations and individuals, and we work to educate others about
horse slaughter in an effort to make it illegal -- not just in the
United States but also in Canada, Mexico, and other
countries.

Horses
who arrive at our beautiful farm come from auctions, kill buyers,
brokers, and sometimes from owners that no longer want them or can
no longer care for them. Some come from caring owners who want
to ensure that their beloved horses find a good home.
Sometimes we
pay to get a horse out of its desperate situation and then
pay to transport the horse to our rescue. Many have been neglected and/or abused and,
once they are safely here, they are in need of vet, farrier,
and dental care, which is also costly.
Once the horses
are safe here, then there are the expenses that come with every horse: feed, wormers, etc.
And, with 34 horses in residence, we go through a ton of hay
about every four days.
We cannot do this
alone. We need assistance from caring individuals, groups, and
businesses. No amount is too small -- please give today to
help the horses by visiting our Donate
page. Donations are tax deductible.
